SUSTAINABILITY AND SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT

   "SUSTAINABILITY  AND  SUSTAINABLE  DEVELOPMENT"

Here,I will give a brief introduction about the overall things of sustainable development and sustainability like definition,goals, principle, and needs.

"We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers; we have borrowed it from our children."                                          - Mr. Lester Brown

Mr. Lester Brown showed his tension as well as awareness toward the earth by his thoughts.

                           "SUSTAINABILITY"

The word 'Sustainability' is the combination of two words that is 'Sustain' and 'Ability'.So, sustainability means 'the ability to stay for a long time'.In other words, Sustainability is the ability or capacity of things which can be use generation by generation.

Although,The concept of Sustainability is a new idea, Still the foundation of sustainable development was established during the previous movements and resolutions like Gender inequality,Social Injustices, life's destruction and  Deforestation and many other past resolutions. At Last, By the end of 20th century,It was converted in the form of Sustainable Development.

                   " SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT"

In simple words, Sustainable Development is a thought,by which we can maintain a balance in the world by maintaining social and gender equality,Economical prosperity as well as good and beneficial production and consumption,So that, peace can be spread on the earth. 

According to Brundtland Commission,In 1987, Sustainable Development was defined, "Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."                         - Our Common Future ( Brundtland Report)

According to Millennium Declaration, "Sustainable Development is a system approach to growth and development and to manage natural, produced and social capital for the welfare of their own and future generations."                                                    -Millennium Declaration

           " PILLARS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT "

 Pillars of sustainable development are also called  Triple Bottom line. There are three pillars of sustainable development - Social, Environmental and Economical.The three are depend on each other. The three pillars are the foundation of an environment.If a Single pillars falls then it will affect to others pillars of environment.

The three pillars of sustainable development are follows as -

1.SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

Social Sustainability is the goal of sustainable development to maintain the peace and balance in the society by the conservation of humanity, Human's rights and value, Sociality and equality.As well as the major aim, to create awareness in humans and make them aware from their responsibilities and duties towards the environment and all organisms as well.The concept of Sustainable Society can't be possible without human's awareness.

2. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Environmental Sustainability is an effort to interact with  the earth, from  her density and prosperity. All organisms are develop on this earth and fulfill their needs by the environment.So that, life can't be possible without healthy environment. So for making an healthy and happy life, It's necessary to maintain the balance in Environment as well as try to preserve and conserve to all environmental resources.

3. ECONOMICAL SUSTAINABILITY

Economical Sustainability is the thoughts towards the economical situations and economical activities.Economical Sustainability is the need of everyone to fulfill their everyday needs as well as good life. Good production and consumption is necessary for a sustainable country or economy. Since, as we know resources are limited on the earth so effective use of natural and artificial resources is necessary for Sustained world.

            " GOALS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT "

 

Sustainable Development goals (SDGs) or global goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a  "Blue print"  for achieving a good and sustainable present as well as future for all.The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the UNITED NATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

There are a brief introduction of every goals of sustainable development are followed as:

1- NO POVERTY

Poverty is a curse in the society and this curse gradually become a well established country into a weak and poor one. No poverty is the major goal of sustainable development because without reduction sustainable development's aim can't be complete. There is a need for green Earth that "Everyone grow with each other".It's a real movement for the people,By the people and to the people for becoming a poverty free earth.

2- ZERO HUNGER

Zero hunger or good security is the second major goal of sustainable development. As we. Know ,Food is necessary for living on the earth for everyone whether they are humans or animals. Unfortunately,Food is insecure in India and many other countries as well.Some rich people wasting the food like soil, on the other side those persons are living below the poverty line, can't able to collect one-time satisfactory food.The condition of food is same mostly on every place.People don't understand the value of food.So that, Hunger and lack of food are continuously dying many lives within the minutes.So that,It's a need to aware the people and teach them the values of food.

3- QUALITY EDUCATION

Education is the only weapon by which the goals of sustainable development can be achieve.It's a powerful protector as well as guider what can make people's aware toward the earth safety, Humanity, Equality or economical sustainability. This goal most wants equal and effectively education for all whether boys or girl, Young or old. As well as compulsory schooling education of primary and secondary levels by 2030. Education is important to know itself and live on the earth with independence and happiness.

5-GENDER EQUALITY

Gender Equality is also a major goal of sustainable development as well as a need for ending the discrimination,Inequality, Harrasment and many others gender inequality reasons. It's is necessary to understand that people are come on this earth as a Human with equal rights.If we think about the earth,So earth give everything same to all human. So,From this it's found that human itself made lots of boundaries between the humans.So that, Today's situation is too bad, Women haven't right to live on this earth with freedom. Although,Women's are fighting before many time and most of the rights they got.Still, The mindset of people's are not change completely. So,It's important to create a Discrimination free society on every place.

6- CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION

A famous and true line that "Water is life". It's true, water is the life of every species. Organisms can't survive  for long time without water.As well as,There is a less quantity of water available on the earth by which we can leave.But in present time, decreasing water level telling the poor condition of water because people unusually flowing and wasting the water,the reason is gradually people itself face the problem of survive. The goal of save and pure water and to rise the water level can be get provided wo keep far all pollutants from the sources of water, understand the value of water and become a responsible creature.

7-AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

It's the seventh major goal of sustainable development.Since,Earth is like a stock of many resources.There are many renewable resources which frequently providing the energy for survival and for completing needs with losing.Still,We don't use renewal resources properly and attracting towards the non- renewable resources which is really reason of increasing pollution and destruction.While the use of renewable resources is simple and more effective and we can use it without paying and free for long time.Still,We haven't values of prosperous resources after too much benefit.So that, it's a need of sustainable development,to make aware us towards the values of renewable resources.

8-DECENT WORK AND GROWING ECONOMY

It's the eight goal of sustainable development. Decent work and economical growth are important factors and effective force towards the sustainability.It's necessary to give the good and satisfied employment and decent, effective and profitable work for all people.So that they can make a happy and green earth.Economical Growing is necessary, because a economically Sustained economy can give a sustain environment for present generation as well as future generations.

9-INDUSTRY,INNOVATION AND                 INFRASTRUCTURE

 Industrial development, effective innovation and strong infrastructure is the major ninth goal of sustainable development.The goal majorly force to promote the good and non polluted industrial progress,  and strong establish infrastructure.As well as useful innovation in every technical or non technical field.Sustained industry, good configuration and profitable industrialisation cam make a sustainable world as well as will give the golden life of present and upcoming generations as well.

10-REDUCED INEQUALITY

Reduce inequality is the tenth specific target of sustainable development. Reduced inequality means to establish equality within the people by their Gender, Class and caste, Language and work.Reduced inequality give the equal rights,works and opportunities and a independent environment.The goal of reducing inequality including to reduce discriminatory system and laws,social systems, Domestic violence as well as sexual harrasment as well to reduce the discrimination on every work place where try to show the inequalities by their salary, policies and behaviour. 

11- SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES

Sustainable cities and communities are the eleventh major goal of sustainable development.The goal focused on a safe, inclusive and comfortable place for everyone because the population are constantly  increasing and the problem of living place are increasing more and more as well as to make protect and safe to every communities with their beliefs,culture and existence.Alongside, try to reduce to increasing population because it's the major reason to extinction of species and communities.

12- GOOD PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION

Good production and consumption is the twelfth goal of sustainable development.Good and effective production is necessary for a Sustainable economy and their habitants.Good production is the reason of a developed country because it's the key of golden and happy present and future as well. If there will be good production then consumption will be good also. Still,It should be necessary to focus both of aspects of an economy and make them more effective, profitable and available for all species.

13-CLIMATE PROTECTION

Climate protection is the thirteenth major goal of sustainable development.It was added in the Sustainable goals because good climate have a need for all species.Since,Species are feel everything and the process of life based on compatible climate.So there is a need to become a sustain climate where Everything like level of water, plants, Weather will be maintained as that was in ancient time,to reduce the negative things which are the reason of global warming, deforestation, ozone depletion and many other factors. It is necessary for a good and stable climate.

14-WATER CONSERVATION FOR AQUATIC LIFE

Water conservation for aquatic life as well as all living life is the fourteenth goal of sustainable development.Water is unique on the earth because all species are depend on it. But In present, Humans are himself destroying the  every elements which are necessary for species' life included water.Now the water level is going down that's the reason that the Species who live under the water gradually started to go towards  the death due to lack of water and polluted water.So water conservation is the need of minutes and without achieving this goal also  the dream can't be possible.

15- LIFE ON LAND 

Since,Life is too precious on the land.So it's the fifteenth goal of sustainable development that to protect,conserve and increase the fertility of the land and try to save it from being barren by reducing industrialization, deforestation,over grazing and desertification.Land is the foundation of all stable structured included human and animals, plants and trees. All Species are depended for fulfill their needs on the land.So it's important to conserve the land as well as the sources, inhabitants and residence of all species.

17-PEACE,  JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS

Peace, Justice and strong institutions is a group of many aspects and a major goal also.Peace is the need of present time because more development are itself the reason of more problems, As well as there are lack of true justices and strong institutions.Although, People have their fundamental rights,they have right to feel free and can get true justices but there is a need to make them aware regarding their own fundamental rights.As well as ,It's necessary to establish strong institutions which can give the same rights,justice and a peaceful  environment to everyone.

 16PARTNERSHIP FOR THE GOALS

Partnership for completing the goals is the seventeenth major goal of sustainable development.The dream of sustainable development can be achieve provided people understand their duties with own spirit as well as with the group. It's a huge possibility that the spirit of community and partnership can definitely success the movement of sustainable World and Environment.So,It's the major goal as well as the soul of sustainable development by which,the concept of Not I,Not Me only We can be achieve.

After going through these goals of sustainable development, It's clear that the thought of  Sustainable Development is a global thought.Every part of earth are included and can make a sustainable planet.

HOW CAN WE ACHIEVE THESE GOALS

To make the Sustainable planet, It's necessary have to spread an awareness between the humans towards the environment and to recognise them about the values or needs of environment in their life.As well as, people must understand the values of humanity, cultural and Bio diversity, Sociality and availability of all resources.The major thing is that human understand the value of human and do their focus on community,groups and on partnership. Because, without everyone's corporation,it's impossible to get the dream of Sustainable planet.

The thought of Sustainable Development is emphasized to the human to think and feel  about the value of sustainable environment and to recognise as well as save from  the harmful impact which occurs by the human's desstructive activities such as Deforestation, Climate change,ozone depletion, global warming,hunger and poverty etc.
